The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy Communications Director, Hajia Rabi Salifu, has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to substantiate its public assurances with verifiable facts, saying reassurance alone is not enough for Ghanaians.
Speaking on GHToday with Lily Mohammed on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Hajia Salifu acknowledged that the NDC has only been in office for a year but stressed that “it is the ordinary Ghanaian who will go to the ballot and decide whether you listened to them or not.”
She raised concerns over the government’s statements regarding fuel reserves, questioning the clarity of available stock and contingency plans.
“Reassurance is reassurance,” she said. “But we want to know what exactly we have in stock and what the plan is if there is a surge or difficulty in the system.”
Hajia Salifu also criticized claims about the creation of one million jobs, citing a recent fact-check report by MyJoyOnline following the President’s State of the Nation Address.
“When a president is fact-checked and it is boldly written that he lied, it affects goodwill and investor confidence,” she said.
The NPP spokesperson further emphasized that the party will continue to hold the government accountable on issues affecting citizens, including complaints from cocoa farmers, labour unions, nurses, and teachers over unpaid arrears.
“If there is anybody to apologize, it should be to the nurses and teachers who say some of them are owed up to 14 months’ arrears,” she stated.
On internal party matters, Hajia Salifu highlighted the importance of investigating allegations raised by Minority figures, noting that “allegations are allegations until proven beyond reasonable doubt.”
She expressed confidence that the NPP can reorganize and return to power, citing the NDC’s own resurgence in 2016 after electoral defeat.
She concluded by pointing to the party’s recent flagbearer election as a signal of renewed commitment to rebuilding the NPP and better serving Ghanaians in the future.
