President John Dramani Mahama has given all state-owned enterprises (SOEs) a firm deadline to submit their annual reports by the end of April 2026.
Speaking to the Ghanaian community in Lusaka, Zambia, during his three-day state visit, Mahama emphasized accountability in public institutions.
According to him, many SEOs have failed to present annual reports for a long time although they are mandated by law.
President Mahama explained that the submission is important, emphasizing accountability and proper auditing.
“There are many state-owned enterprises who for seven to eight years have never produced an annual report. Meanwhile, it is obligatory for them to do it,” he said.
The President warned that SOE chief executives failing to meet the April deadline would face consequences.
“This year, woe betide any chief executive of a state-owned enterprise who by the end of April… has not done your audits and presented your annual reports,” he added.
The President also commended the revival of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), highlighting its positive impact on Ghana’s economy.
