Mahama’s gov’t has become unpopular faster than anticipated – Annor Dompreh

The Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annor Dompreh, has launched described the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government as a “scam” that has fast lost the trust of the Ghanaian people.

Speaking at a strategic workshop organized for members of the Minority caucus, the Nsawam Adoagyir Lawmaker asserted that the government’s inadequacies have been laid bare far sooner than expected, leaving various sectors of the economy in severe distress.

“This government has become unpopular, even faster than we anticipated. And it did not take long for their shallowness to be exposed at every level…,” he said.

The vociferous MP continued that the current administration’s “shallowness” has been exposed at every level of governance and therefore urged the opposition to maintain a relentless stance on holding the executive accountable

“We will therefore be doing ourselves a disservice if we do not intensify the pressure of accountability and strike whenever they are exposed.

Millions of Ghanaians deserve to know the true nature of their government,” he said.

He maintained that the opposition possesses a superior track record in managing the affairs of the country and must demonstrate that capability to the electorate.

“The task certainly is not beyond us. Let us fight once again, prove our superior management of the affairs of this country. You and I have important roles to play, and today we are gathered here because of these roles. By strategizing effective ways to achieve our objectives, we can coordinate our activity to achieve the best results while remaining sensitive to the will, hopes, and aspirations of the millions of Ghanaians who believe in us…,” he said.

The Chief Whip highlighted the grievances of essential workers and everyday citizens, who he claims are bearing the brunt of poor governance.
“We cannot sit back,” Dompreh urged. “The cocoa farmer is wailing, teachers are crying, nurses are wailing, public servants are crying, market women are crying. This is a reflection of the scam of the NDC government.”

Mr Dompreh further stressed that the ultimate goal for the party must be a decisive victory in the 2028 general elections. He emphasized that achieving this objective requires absolute internal cohesion and strategic coordination.

He called on leadership and party faithful to put aside differences, close ranks, and focus on the aspirations of the Ghanaian citizenry.

“If there is any time that this party should take back the reins of governance, it is certainly 2028 and not beyond 2028,” he concluded. “We have to hold hands, band together, close ranks, because the hope of the multitude of Ghanaians rests on us.”

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh has launched a scathing attack on the NDC government, declaring it a “scam” and urging the opposition to reclaim power by 2028.
