Residents of Kute in the Buem Constituency can now look forward to improved access to clean drinking water following the commissioning of a new small-town water system by the Jasikan Municipal Assembly.
The project, funded under the District Assembly Common Fund, seeks to address the community’s long-standing struggle with water scarcity. For years, residents were forced to trek long distances for potable water or risk contracting waterborne diseases such as typhoid due to unsafe water sources.
At a brief ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Parke-Davis Magyigbe, officially inaugurated the facility, describing it as a critical intervention aimed at improving public health and living conditions.
According to him, “This project symbolizes our collective commitments to improving the living conditions of our people and demonstrates our unwavering dedication to ensuring access to safe , reliable and sustainable water supply in all our communities”.

He emphasised that the water system forms part of a wider development agenda championed by the Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Buem, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, to ensure universal access to safe drinking water across the municipality.
The Queen Mother of Kute expressed profound gratitude, noting that the project will significantly ease the burden on women and children who often spent hours searching for water. She described the water system as “life-changing,” bringing dignity and relief to the community.
Several residents also shared their excitement, highlighting the project’s potential to drastically reduce typhoid cases and other water-related illnesses.
The MCE urged the community to safeguard the facility to ensure its longevity and continuous benefit to the people.
