The Minister of Defense, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has commended the National Cadet Corps of Ghana as the organization marks 71 years of instilling discipline, loyalty, and volunteerism in the country’s youth.
Speaking at a colorful parade held Tuesday, July 1 which coincided with Ghana’s 65th Republic Day celebrations, Dr. Omane Boamah stood in for the President of the Republic and Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, as the Reviewing Officer.
The event, which brought together 20,000 smartly dressed cadet members drawn from all 16 regions of Ghana, was a demonstration of the promising future of the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services.
Addressing the parade, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah conveyed a special message from President John Mahama, congratulating the National Cadet Corps on their 71st anniversary. “Ayeekoo to our youth for embracing discipline, loyalty, and volunteerism. The nation is proud of your values and commitment,” .
The government, the Minister noted, remains dedicated to providing youth-centered opportunities to enhance their development and leadership potential.
Among the key interventions highlighted were One Million Coders Programme, Edwumawura Employment Initiative, Free First-Year Tertiary Education Scholarship, Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities and Free Sanitary Pads Distribution for Schoolgirls.
He also announced that recruitment and enlistment of 12,000 Personnel into the Ghana Armed Forces will soon commence.

As part of the celebration, six distinguished individuals received awards for their exceptional contributions to the growth and progress of cadet activities in the country.
They include: Mr. Samuel Happy Kwadzo Avevor, Mr. Ebenezer Graham Acquaah, Ing. Samuel Osei Asare, Rev. Gideon Nii Sackey, Hajia Katumi Nantogmah Attah and Mohammed Abdul Hakeem.
Additionally, Cadet Senior Under Officer Adriel Samuel Papa Nii Tettey earned a special commendation for his outstanding service.

Present at the event was the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, diplomats, security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and other dignitaries for their presence and support.
