The Minority in Parliament has sounded the alarm bell over what it says is a secret recruitment of New Patriotic Party (NPP) elements into the security services.
According to the NDC MPs, their majority colleagues have been given 30 slots to fill with party members.
Addressing the media in Parliament Minority leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Ranking member for the committee on Defence and Interior James Agalga disclosed the ongoing recruitments have not been advertised as required.
According to the duo, the move is to compromise the security services for the December 7 elections.
They have consequently demanded an immediate halt of such recruitments threatening a massive resistance if the government goes ahead.
The Minority further disclosed the IGP has been petitioned to immediately halt the clandestine move.
“It is in the interest of the NPP footsoldiers to act lawfully or face the full consequences of their actions and the wrath of our supporters.
“Just as the Minority protested vehemently against the politicisation of our security services through illegal recruitment in 2019, we once again demand that recruitment into all the security services be halted forthwith to allow for advertisements to be made with the qualification criteria duly spelt out.
“By so doing, we would have created equal opportunity for all Ghanaians who will then be selected on the basis of merit and not cheap partisan and nepotistic considerations.”
