Deputy Attorney General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai has revealed that more individuals are set to be arrested in connection with ongoing high-profile financial scandals. According to him, investigations have uncovered new evidence, prompting authorities to widen their probe into the case.
Speaking on State of Affairs with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, Dr. Srem-Sai stated that while two individuals have already been arrested, several others are under investigation, and more arrests will follow in the coming days.
“We have more than just the two people that have been mentioned so far. Others have been cautioned, and more arrests are expected as we continue our investigations,” he disclosed.
Dr. Srem-Sai explained that the investigation began with a single company but has since expanded to involve more than 12 entities, including two registered in the United Kingdom.
“This case is unique because every step we take leads us to new discoveries. What started with one company has now exposed financial transactions connected to multiple companies both locally and internationally,” he said.
He further noted that authorities are carefully building a strong case before moving to prosecution.
The Deputy Attorney General also confirmed that a key suspect remains in custody due to concerns about his ability to evade justice.
“New intelligence shows he has multiple Ghanaian passports and access to other nationalities, making him a flight risk. This has forced us to reassess how we handle his case,” he explained.
Dr. Srem-Sai also addressed concerns that some suspects are strategically moving between countries that do not have extradition agreements with Ghana, making it more challenging to bring them to justice.
The Attorney General’s office has faced criticism for making public statements about the case before formal charges have been filed. However, Dr. Srem-Sai defended the move, stating that transparency is a crucial part of democracy.
“The public deserves to know what is happening. We are not in the business of making baseless accusations. Every update we provide is backed by substantial evidence,” he asserted.
He urged patience, assuring Ghanaians that the legal process is being handled carefully to ensure justice is served.
“We are following every lead and taking our time to ensure that when charges are brought, they are backed by solid evidence,” he added.
