MTN Ghana has partnered  Dext Science Technology to present a set of science instruments to some basic schools in the Eastern region to improve teaching and learning of the science.

“Practical Learning, has proven to be more empirical as against theory and skills acquisition in evidence-based learning is touted as the best form of learning and it is on that score that MTN is collaborating with Dext Science Technology in providing the numerous science sets to aid practical learning,” MTN Education Potfolio Adviser, Mr Ebenezer Terkper said, adding the aim of the initiative was to help students to convert whatever they have learnt from the text books into the practical form.

He said the donation of science set to schools at Odumase and Asikesu is aimed at promoting quality teaching and learning of science subject.

Mr Terkper said the Science-sets project contained basic science equipment that transform theory into practical forms.

According to him, MTN was passionate about equipping the current generation with requisite skills and ICT information to make science teaching more practicable.

He said currently, 14 schools have been chosen across the country to benefit from 2000 Science sets and prayed for the second phase building on the success story of the schools selected.

Mr Caleb Fugah, Chief Marketing Officer of Dext  Science Technology, suppliers of the equipment is optimistic and hopeful that students of Kodjonya Millennium Presby School would be able to invent light to help them study during power outages.

The Kojonya Millennium Presby School was the only school that was adopted by MTN in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region and Asikesu in the Upper West Akim Municipality for the science set.

The science set is also called mobile lab and can be used for 26 experiments, including alarm system, traffic light, and electromagnet energy among others.

He said the vision of Dext Technology is to make all Ghanaian schools have the Science sets to make Science teaching very practicable.

The Assistant headteacher of Kodjonya Millennium Presby School, Mr John Djabanor  who received the set on behalf of the beneficiary school commended MTN for the sets and said they would be put to good use to improve upon the learning of  science in the school.

Some of the beneficiaries students, Patience Tawiah and Victor Tetteh commended MTN and Dext Science Technology for providing the school science set instruments to improve the teaching and learning of science.

They believed that the science set instruments would enhanced their performance in science during their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
