As the NDC’s internal contest gathers momentum, Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Foyo Gbande has declared his intention to seek re-election, pledging to strengthen the party’s chances of victory and increase its parliamentary seats in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Gbande is seeking another term to consolidate the party’s electoral gains and position it to secure more parliamentary seats in 2028.
Addressing the media, Mr Gbande said his record in office would be judged by party members, stressing that experience, loyalty and dedicated service were essential to the party’s success.
“I have successfully picked nomination forms again to seek re-election as Deputy General Secretary of the NDC to face the battle ahead of us in 2028. Have I served well? The verdict will show on the ground. Colleagues, experience matters. What I know is loyalty and dedicated service.
“Have I caused problems? I never envisaged perfect leadership, but I have always worked to support a leadership that fulfils its mandate. I am proud to say that I have never failed any of my superiors whenever I have been called upon to undertake an assignment. Given another opportunity, I will do the same.”
Mr Gbande said he would maintain his commitment to the party while improving his approach to the responsibilities of the office.
“Will I change my nature? I am not going to change my nature, but I will come back more polished and stronger to discharge my responsibilities to the party more effectively.
“In the course of my work as an operations officer for the party and within the government machinery, I have handled a very difficult and, at times, challenging responsibility. I may have offended a lot of people in the course of discharging my duties.
“Let me humbly use this opportunity to apologise to anyone I may have offended in the line of duty.”
