The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has elected natural resource governance expert Richard Ellimah as its new Chair, effective November 2025 to November 2026.
His election took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, during a meeting of committee members. He succeeds Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi, Esq.
Ellimah, who represents Civil Society Organisations and Community-Based Organisations on PIAC, expressed gratitude and outlined his commitment to strengthening the Committee’s oversight mandate.
“I appreciate the confidence reposed in me,” he said, adding that he intends to “build on the solid foundation laid by my predecessors to fulfil the mandate of PIAC in promoting transparency and accountability in the management and use of petroleum revenues.”
With nearly two decades of experience in Ghana’s natural resource governance space, Ellimah is widely recognised as a community activist, development planner, and analyst on extractive-sector accountability.
At the same meeting, Biomedical Scientist Edward Yaw Afriyie—who represents the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI)—was elected Vice Chairperson for a one-year term. He takes over from Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII.
Ahead of the elections, five new PIAC members were sworn in on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The oath was administered by the Ministry of Finance’s Coordinating Director, Technical, Samuel Arkhurst, on behalf of the Minister. The new members are:
