Aggrieved customers of mobile networks, service providers and the likes will from the 1st of July be able to file complaints and seek redress from the National Communications Authority’s (NCA) Dispute Resolution Committee.
The committee which was launched on Wednesday June 5, 2024, seeks to among others ensure that grievances among sector players does not escalate to litigations which most often puts spokes in the wheels of the smooth running of business.
The DRC created by sections 84 and 85 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775) is an added layer to the NCA’s existing Customer Complaints Centre, with limited powers of the High Court.
The mandate of the DRC is to settle disputes between Network Operator- Network Operator, Service Provider-Network Operator, Service Provider- Service Provider, Service Provider/ Network Operator – Utility provider and Service Provider/ Network Operator- Consumer.
Speaking at the launch of the committee, Board Chair of the NCA, Okatakyie Ababio Boakye Danquah II, noted the establishment of the Dispute Resolution Committee will serve as a conduit for speedy resolution of conflicts in furtherance of the digitalization agenda.
Director General of the NCA, Dr. Joe Anokye on his part, expressed confidence in the committee to deliver on its mandate by ensuring timely and fair resolution of disputes.
Chairman of the committee, Patrick Anim Boateng, assured his committee will remain impartial and keep the interest of the consumer at the heart of their decisions.
