NDC still committed to accountability fight despite slow judicial process – Hamza Suhuyini

Hamza Suhuyini says accountability efforts are ongoing despite concerns over delays in prosecutions.

Hamza Suhuyini Esq., a member of the NDC Communications Team, has defended the government’s anti-corruption efforts, insisting that although accountability and judicial processes may appear slow, work is still ongoing.

Speaking on GHToday on GHOne TV, Mr. Suhuyini rejected suggestions that the NDC merely made “noise” over corruption allegations for political advantage.

“When the good people of this country demand for accountability, you must resist the temptation to refer to it as noise,” he stated during the discussion.

According to him, calls for accountability did not originate solely from the National Democratic Congress, but were championed by Ghanaians themselves.

“It was not the NDC that raised the issues of accountability,” he said, adding that the party would have been irresponsible if it had ignored concerns raised by the public over alleged government wrongdoing.

Mr. Suhuyini maintained that the demand for accountability was “a fight of the good people of this country” and not just a partisan campaign.

He further acknowledged that Ghanaians would ultimately judge the NDC based on the promises it made regarding accountability and anti-corruption efforts.

“We make promises in relation to accountability. Ghanaians would hold us to those promises we made. If we fail to deliver, be rest assured that the Ghanaian people will not forgive us,” he said.

Addressing concerns over the pace of investigations and prosecutions, Mr. Suhuyini argued that the slow nature of judicial processes should not be interpreted as inactivity.

“That’s the beauty about accountability and the judicial process,” he noted. “We may consider the process slow but it does not mean that work is not ongoing.”

He expressed confidence that the public would eventually see outcomes from the ongoing processes, including possible court rulings involving former appointees of the previous New Patriotic Party administration.

“Until you wake up one morning and you are faced with the reality of a court verdict against a former appointee of the New Patriotic Party, then you come to appreciate that indeed the NDC government is still committed to the fight against corruption and ensuring accountability,” he stated.
