The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is today, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, expected to receive the report of its investigative committee probing alleged inducement and vote buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries held on February 7.
The primary has been rocked by claims that items including television sets, cash and other goodies were distributed to delegates, with Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed widely cited as the key figure in the allegations.
The three-member committee, chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi with lawyer Emefa Fugah and former MP and Minister Inusah Fuseini as members, was tasked to investigate the claims and recommend sanctions and reforms to curb vote buying in future internal elections.
Fuseini was appointed after Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga stepped down from the committee following calls by the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament, which he leads, for the annulment of the primary.
Baba Jamal has denied the allegations, insisting the claims circulating in videos and on social media are false and do not reflect how he conducted himself during the contest.
He has also pledged to cooperate with both the party’s inquiry and state authorities investigating the matter.
