The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye, has commended contractors working on government projects in the municipality for delivering quality work at an impressive pace with some completing in less than three months.
The commendation follows an inspection tour by the MCE and officials of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, January 8, 2026, to assess the progress of ongoing development projects across the municipality.
In late October 2025, the MCE cut sod for several key Common fund projects aimed at improving healthcare, education, and access to potable water.
These included the construction of a modern CHPS compound at Agavenya to support universal health coverage and the government’s free primary healthcare policy.
Ground was also broken for a six-unit classroom block for Zion Primary School at Koforidua Zongo, a three-unit kindergarten block for Police M/A Basic School, and the drilling of 18 mechanized boreholes in selected communities to improve access to clean drinking water.

Although the projects were scheduled for completion within one year, the inspection revealed significant progress.
The six-unit classroom block at Zion Basic School has already been completed, while the mechanized boreholes are finished and, in some communities, already in use. Other projects, including the CHPS compound and the KG block, are at advanced stages of completion.
Speaking during the tour, MCE Ransford Owusu Boakye expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, praising the contractors for exceeding expectations.

He further announced that new projects, including the much-anticipated 24-hour economy market, will soon commence in the municipality.
“First of all, let me say I am so impressed with the sort of work which has been done so far. If you look at the Zion School, the contractor was supposed to use 12 months, but within two months, two weeks, he’s been able to finish it, paint it, and it’s almost completed. When you get to the Regional Police Command, KG Block, the contractor is in the process of roofing it.And now we are at Agavenya, where we are building a new CHPs compound. If you look at the work done so far, I can say that all the contractors are doing very well”. The MCE remarked.
The MCE announced that ,many more projects will commence this year including the much anticipated “24-hour economy market complex” to be constructed at the Argatha Market Square.

“This year, we are going to have a lot of funders. By next week, we are in the process of advertising for another three classroom blocks. We are renovating the Sarkodie School, which was ripped off.
We have one legacy project at the Presby Primary B, around the Ministries area, which we are going to complete. We are also going to have another six boreholes to be added to the earlier 18 that we have done so far”.
He added ” the 24-hour economy Market complex will also commenced this year at the Argatha market “.
Some residents expressed appreciation to the government for fulfilling its promises but appealed for more development projects to address other pressing needs in the area.
