The New Juaben Traditional Council has endorsed the decision by the New Juaben Municipal Security Council to close down the Peace PROTOA loading bay at the Koforidua- Accra Lorry terminal citing insecurity.
In letter addressed to the Assembly and Eastern Regional Minister, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, expressed satisfaction with the move, describing it as a necessary step to restore peace within the municipality’s transport sector.
According to the statement, the Omanhene “cannot work with Mr. Joshua Kofi Sogah and his group,” whom he accused of undermining the authority of the traditional council for more than three years and disturbing the peace of the area.
The Secretariat also recommended that the now-vacated loading space be reallocated to another transport union that would respect institutional directives and collaborate with the traditional authority.
Meanwhile, the National Secretariat of the Progressive Transport Owners’ Association (PROTOA-Ghana) has announced that Mr. Joshua Kofi Sogah is no longer a member of the association, stating that he was officially dismissed in 2021.
The association noted that this public confirmation follows the final determination of a protracted legal battle, which ended with a judgment delivered on June 28, 2024.
According to leadership of the association, an audit by AGEN Business Consult reportedly indicted Mr. Sogah, together with Mr. Francis Akaglo, unlawfully withdrew GH₵360,120 from the Peace PROTOA bank account during his tenure as Interim Management Committee (IMC) Treasurer in Koforidua. This act breached Regulations 5 and 6 of the Association’s Code of Ethics.

He allegedly refused to cooperate with a three-member committee appointed by the National Executive Council to oversee operations during investigations.
Mr. Sogah was accused of engaging in disruptive behavior at the lorry station, which the association deemed damaging to its reputation.
Following the financial irregularities, he was convicted and sentenced to 30 days in prison.
PROTOA further clarified that under Article 16(j) of its constitution, Mr. Sogah is disqualified from voting or contesting in any association elections.
Article 21(e) also stipulates that his membership is terminated and PROTOA shall have no official dealings with him.
