The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has set the minimum ex-pump price floor for petrol at GH¢16.09 per litre and diesel at GH¢17.09 per litre for the second pricing window of October 2026.
The new price floors will apply from October 16 to 31, according to a notice issued by the Authority on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Under the revised pricing guidelines, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been assigned a minimum price floor of GH¢13.87 per kilogram.
The NPA has also set the price floor for Marine Gas Oil (MGO) Local at GH¢17.20 per litre and kerosene at GH¢17.45 per litre.
The Authority has directed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) to comply with the announced floors during the period.
The notice stated, “As per the Petroleum Product Pricing Guidelines (PPPG), all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) are entreated to comply with the above price floors for the window under consideration.”
However, the announced figures are minimum price floors and do not necessarily represent the final prices motorists and other consumers will pay at filling stations.
The NPA explained that the floors exclude premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), the operating margins of Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), and the marketers’ and dealers’ margins of OMCs and LPGMCs.
It added, “The price floors exclude the premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs) and the operating margins of BIDECs, as well as the Marketers’ and Dealers’ Margins of OMCs/LPGMCs. These will be independently determined by the companies as pertains under the PPPG.”
The price floors form part of Ghana’s petroleum product pricing framework, under which the NPA provides minimum pricing benchmarks for oil marketing and LPG marketing companies for designated pricing windows.
The new floors cover the period from October 16 to 31, 2026.
