Members of Parliament, party executives, stalwarts and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have picked nomination forms for Henry Nana Boakye to contest the party’s National First Vice Chairman position.
The brief but colourful exercise, held this morning, brought together supporters who expressed their backing for Nana Boakye’s bid for the position.
The group said the NPP needs what they described as a “Nana B spirit” at the current stage of Ghana’s national politics.
They said Nana Boakye had demonstrated courage and boldness, particularly in what they described as a period of harassment and suppression of free speech under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
According to the group, his experience and leadership qualities would make him a valuable addition to the NPP’s national leadership as First Vice Chairman.
They subsequently appealed to NPP delegates to overwhelmingly endorse Nana Boakye’s candidature, saying his election would help position the party to reclaim political power from the NDC in the 2028 general elections.
