Former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has declared confidence in his prospects in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, saying he would emerge victorious if the election were held today.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Dr. Adutwum attributed his confidence to faith, grassroots backing, and his personal record of service within the party and government.
“I feel I’d win the NPP primaries if it were held today,” he said, adding, “I believe in divine providence and I have faith in the people.”
According to him, the NPP is at a critical stage where it must select a leader capable of both national transformation and internal party unity.
“We are looking for a leader who will change this country first and foremost, and we are also looking for a leader who will be able to unify the party,” he stated.
Dr. Adutwum said his style of politics distinguishes him from others in the race, stressing that he does not engage in internal disputes or personal attacks.
“I believe that I’m the one that can bring that unity because I am not a source of any acrimony,” he noted. “
I am not saying anything bad against anybody. I am just selling myself to them.”
He explained that his engagements with delegates focus on his background, experience, and plans rather than negative campaigning.
“When I go before the delegates, it’s all about Yaw Adutwum, getting them to understand who I am, where I am coming from, what I have done and what I will do when they give me the opportunity,” he said.

Dr. Adutwum described this approach as a straightforward message anchored on unity, self-presentation, and continuity, as the party prepares for its upcoming presidential primaries.
