The Okere District Assembly has cut the sod for the construction of a Two(2)-storey office complex, and Modern Sports Complex.

The ceremonies were performed in Adukrom and Abiriw respectively.

The two Storey disability-friendly building will have 23 office accommodation, a 150 -seater Conference room, Storerooms and Washrooms.

The project, expected to be completed by June 2020, would serve as a permanent administrative Office for the Okere District Assembly, inaugurated a year ago but currently operating from a rented apartment.

The office Complex is being sited on plots of land near the Adukrom Police station. The land was initially earmarked for the Ghana Police Service.

The District Chief Executive, Daniel Kenneth said the completion of the project will provide a convenient working environment for the over 181 staff of the Assembly currently struggling to have office space to operate in its temporal office.

“for us as Okere people one of the biggest appreciations that we have for the President is the District status he has given us because it is indeed accelerating development in Okere. We thank the President and Hon. Dan Botwe for their foresight “.

After the sod-cutting ceremony in Adukrom, the entourage of Chiefs and government officials moved to Abiriw -Akuapem where the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof.Peter Twumasi joined to cut the sod for the construction of a multi-purpose Sports Complex in fulfilment of a promise made to the people by the Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Asiamah.

The edifice will have a standard football pitch, athletics track, tennis, basketball and handball courts, youth ICT, washrooms and dressing room.

Prof.Peter Twumasi said the construction of the Sports Complex across the country signifies the commitment of President Akufo to youth development. He said the siren environment and good weather condition on the Akuapem range give it a competitive advantage for camping sportsmen and women of the National teams.

The Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development who double Member of Parliament for Okere, Dan Kwaku Botwe, present in both sod-cutting ceremonies held said Okere has been positioned on the path of development that will improve the living standards of the people including interventions for youth development.

The Chief of Abiriw, Nana Kwame Henaku, commended the government for the various developmental projects ongoing in the Okere District.
