The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has opened a separate investigation into an alleged assault on one of its officers during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
In a statement on Sunday, February 8, 2026, the OSP said the incident occurred on February 7 while its officer was serving an investigative directive on NDC candidate Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed in connection with allegations of vote buying and vote selling.
According to the OSP, Baba Jamal “allegedly abetted thugs to physically attack an officer of the OSP, who was serving an investigative directive on him.”
The anti-corruption office said it has consequently opened further investigations into “the assault of an authorised officer of the OSP in the performance of his functions in relation to Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed.”
The OSP explained that it commenced a real-time investigation at the Ayawaso East primaries to probe allegations of vote buying, vote selling and the sources of funding behind the alleged acts.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has recalled Baba Jamal from his diplomatic post as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria over alleged vote buying.
