The legal team of Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of engaging in “public theatrics” following its recent claim that assets worth over GHS 100 million linked to him had been seized.
In a statement released by HAY & Partners, Dr. Abdul-Hamid’s lawyers emphatically denied the OSP’s claims, stating that no assets or businesses belonging to their client have been identified, traced, or seized. They highlighted that the OSP’s own amended charge sheet, filed on October 17, 2025, lists five counts of alleged offences, none of which refers to any assets or properties connected to Dr. Abdul-Hamid.
“It is deeply regrettable that instead of complying with court orders, including filing its disclosures, the OSP has chosen to engage in public theatrics and false reportage,” the statement said, urging the office to focus on prosecutorial diligence rather than media sensationalism.
This follows a post on X by The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that they’ve seized and frozen assets valued at more than GH¢100 million and over US$100,000 belonging to the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who is currently facing prosecution for serious corruption and financial crimes.

The lawyers noted that Dr. Abdul-Hamid has fully cooperated with the OSP, attending all court proceedings and responding to all investigative requests. They warned that the public should not be swayed by misinformation, which they said undermines the rule of law and the integrity of the judicial process.
Dr. Abdul-Hamid remains innocent until proven guilty, the statement stressed, emphasizing that attempts to manipulate public opinion through false claims threaten the fairness of ongoing judicial proceedings.
