Thirteen Students of Oti Boateng Senior High School in the Eastern Region have been deboardinised by management for breaching school regulations.

Two were deboardinised for theft, five sneaked out of school without exeat for days, six other first-year students scaled over school wall at night to town.

According to the Headmaster, John Hawkson Arthur, students risk being sacked if they flout the bond  to be of good behaviour.

Theft in Dormitories

Many Parents have complained over theft cases in both Boys and Girls Dormitories with their wards being victims.

They lament that their children’s monies, provisions, and even panties are often stolen from their chop boxes by their room mates. One of the angry parents at a PTA meeting Saturday threatened to invoke curses on any student who has stolen his ward’s items.

Infrastructural Challenges

The Boys Dormitory gutted by fire  in January ,2016 has been abandoned .The structure which was severely burnt has become a death trap to teachers, students and other staff of the school.

Despite assurances by government to reconstruct the affected block, nothing has been done almost two years after the incident. The School with current population of over 2000 is grappling with infrastructural challenges creating congestion in the classrooms and dormitories.

The School has no dinning hall, Assembly Hall and kitchen. Meals are prepared under a shed and eaten under a makeshift shed.

Parents angry over nuisance levies

Attempt by the leadership of PTA to levy parents for monthly payment of a Corn miller and a Nurse was rejected by the parents having been levied Ghc20 each for rehabilitation and reconstruction of a broken section of the School wall.

The angry parents say they are already paying long list of teaching and learning materials itemized for their children.
