President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to construct a modern multi-purpose stadium in the Oti Region as part of efforts to empower the youth and boost local development.
Speaking during his regional tour of the Oti Region on Friday, July 25, President Mahama mentioned that the project forms part of the government’s National Sports Development Plan, which targets all six newly created regions for sports infrastructure.
“Under our National Sports Development Plan, we will construct a modern multi-
purpose stadium in the six newly created regions, including the Oti Region.” He stated.
He further emphasized that his government recognizes that “the youth are Oti’s and Ghana’s future.” The reason behind their decision to invest in education, job creation, and youth infrastructure.
He explained that the stadium will not only promote sporting activities but also create jobs and serve as a centre for youth engagement and community development.
“This stadium will serve as a hub for sports excellence, youth engagement, recreation, and job creation, while boosting local economies and regional pride,” he added.

The President’s remarks highlight the government’s broader commitment to equitable development and inclusive infrastructure across regions, particularly in underserved areas like Oti.
The planned facility is expected to stimulate regional participation in national sports, enhance community cohesion, and support economic activity through events and talent development.
