The Ghana Police Service has begun investigations into an alleged assault on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) third National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, during the Akwatia by-election.
This follows after a confrontation broke out between Alhaji Masawudu and the escort of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka.
In a statement signed by DSP David Fianko Okyere of the Eastern South Regional Public Affairs Unit, police confirmed that the incident was officially reported on September 2, 2025.
Alhaji Masawudu was issued a medical form to seek treatment, with instructions to return the endorsed document to support ongoing inquiries.
The case has since been transferred to the Eastern South Regional Police Command for further investigation.
Police have assured the public that due process will be followed to ensure justice.
