The Ghana Police Service is investigating a shooting incident that occurred during political campaign activities in the Agona West Constituency of the Central Region on the evening of Sunday, 27th October 2024.
On Sunday, 27th October 2024, an unfortunate shooting incident occurred at Agona Nyakrom during a mini campaign rally for Independent candidate, Cynthia Morrison, Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to GHOne’s Yaw Boagyan, the incident occurred when the lights were out during the rally, and a convoy allegedly from the camp of the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate, Chris Arthur was passing by.
An unidentified man from one of the pickups fired shots resulting in three of her supporters sustaining some injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko, Cynthia Morrison debunked claims that suggested that there were assassination attempts on her life and there were shots targeted at her car.
However, the Police in a statement narrated that during the incident, three individuals sustained injuries, with two treated and discharged, while the third individual is still on admission receiving medical care.
“The Police have been actively working on the case throughout Sunday night when the incident happened and are closing in on the perpetrator to get him arrested to face justice”, the statement concluded.
