The Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has petitioned the General Legal Council to probe investigative journalist and lawyer Anas Aremeyaw Anas for professional misconduct.
According to the controversial lawmaker, Anas and a public prosecutor connived to compromise a case in court leading to the dismissal of the case.
The petition is a spillover of the rivalry between Anas and Mr. Agyapong following Anas’ latest investigative work on Ghana Football that led to the resignation of the Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
“It is my humble opinion that such professional misconduct should not be countenanced at the Bar and therefore urge your revered council to conduct thorough investigations into the behavior of Anas Aremeyaw Anas,” portions of the petition to the General Legal Council said.
Mr. Agyapong has accused the ace investigator of enticing his subjects with cash and later recording them secretly as a proof of corruption. Anas has rejected the claims and has sued the lawmaker.
The retired public prosecutor being accused has also spoken up and denied any wrong doing in the case which happened years ago.
