The Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, has conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the eight dedicated Ghanaians who lost their lives in a tragic military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region.
In a statement, the programme’s Communications Officer, John Afful, confirmed that the gallant individuals were en route to Obuasi’s Black Park to attend the official launch of rCOMSDEP when the devastating incident occurred.
“We are heartbroken by the untimely passing of Honourable Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Honourable Alhaji Dr. Murtala Mohammed, who were scheduled to deliver solidarity messages in support of this vital national initiative,” he said.
He also paid tribute to the bravery of Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Former Parliamentary Candidate Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
According to the statement, the unwavering commitment of the individuals to sustainable development and responsible mining practices will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
It also offered prayers for strength and comfort for the bereaved families, friends, and all Ghanaians mourning this national tragedy.
