The Rotary Club of Accra Adjiringanor from Friday, October 15- Saturday 16, 2021 enrolled about 500 deprived children into the National Health Insurance Scheme popularly known as the NHIS.

The enrollment benefited children living in the Otano and Agba Kope Communities in Adgiringanor and behind Trassaco communities.

According to the project leads, the project, which is one of many projects to be undertaken by the Adjiringanor Rotary Club, was meant to give opportunity to under privilege children who have not been registered for Health Care Service to have the opportunity to freely access health care and live a dignified life.

“It is noteworthy that without this free registration exercise these children would not have the means and the necessary logistics to register for access to such needed Healthcare Service. As we know, diseases such as malaria and covid are no respecter of persons. Therefore this registration will help save the lives of these children when sick,” The president of the Rotary Club of Accra Adjiringanor, RP Henry Morgan Minski stated.

Many of the teenage mothers whose children benefited from the exercise were very grateful to the Rotary Club of Accra-Adjiringanor and asked the club to continue to extend their Humanitarian Services to them and their children so that they can raise children who will be healthy to go to school and become responsible citizens.

The president of the Rotary Club of Accra Adjiringanor, RP Henry Morgan Minski, addressed the parents and children in the communities before the start of the project and assured them of the love and support the Rotary Club wants to provide to all children in the community who can’t afford access to Health Care.

He reminded them of the support the club provided their communities during the covid period and reassured them that until they see a world where all children have access to health care and can live a dignified life, the club will continue in its work of service above self and remain committed and united with other partners to bring hope to the less privileged, marginalised, disadvantaged, needy and poor.

He called on all Ghanaians to help do good in the world, particularly in our communities. The 19 Rotarians from Accra Adjiringanor were seen registering the children and providing sweets to all who were able to complete the process and take their cards. The children were very happy in taking the photos and getting the cards from the Rotarians.

CP Nana Adu, Rtn Sandys, Rtn Laud, Rtn Paulina, Rtn Joyce, Rtn Patrick, Rtn Lambert IPP Mark, Rtn Delali, Rtn Otis and Rtn Gerald who himself is a medical doctor among others were spotted busily registering the children to ensure all had access to the health care. This was indeed Rotarians in Action.

The Rotary Club was grateful particularly to the former assemblyman Mr Lawer who spent considerable time to follow up on this project as well as the delegates of this year’s face of High School who on all 2 days provided volunteer service work to the project.

The club looks forward to providing access to health care insurance to all children in the Adgiringanor community and its environs. The club will be distributing free wheelchairs to the disabled later this month, will be helping Orphans in a deprived orphanage and provide access to educational materials to children in the community in November and December this year
