Ghana-based gold refining company Royal Ghana Gold has been confirmed as a Silver Sponsor of the African Minerals Policy Forum – Mining in Motion 2026 (AMPF–MiM 2026), scheduled for October 19 to 21 at the Destiny Arena in Accra.
The company’s participation is expected to highlight the role of local gold refining in strengthening Africa’s mineral value chains, promoting downstream industrialisation and retaining more value from the continent’s mineral resources.
In May 2026, Royal Ghana Gold signed an agreement with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to refine up to one metric tonne of gold per week.
The partnership integrates the refinery into Ghana’s official gold supply chain and provides small-scale and artisanal gold mining operators with structured access to processing infrastructure.
It also supports efforts to retain more value from gold production within the country, while the company pursues certification from the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) to secure international market recognition for Ghana-refined bullion.
As a Silver Sponsor, Royal Ghana Gold’s leadership will participate in high-level panel discussions and contribute to the Ministerial Roundtable at the forum.
The company is expected to share perspectives on policy harmonisation, cross-border mineral trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), downstream industrialisation and regulatory frameworks needed to establish West Africa as a unified bullion refining hub.
The three-day forum will bring together governments, investors and industry leaders to discuss policy coordination, infrastructure development and stronger regional mineral value chains.
With Africa home to about 35 gold-producing countries, the forum seeks to advance the transition from raw mineral exports towards local processing and value addition across the continent.
The event comes as Ghana prepares for President John Dramani Mahama’s anticipated chairmanship of the African Union in 2027, providing a platform for African governments and industry stakeholders to exchange views on mineral development, industrialisation and regional economic integration.

AMPF–MiM 2026 is being convened under the leadership and patronage of the Ashanti Royal Family, with the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, serving as a principal convening partner.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is the patron of the forum.
