RUPFA Ghana signs MoU with African Research Centre

Rural Urban Partnership for Africa (RUPFA) Ghana signed a memorandum of understanding with African Research Center regarding the funding and implementation of ground-breaking approaches in Sustainable Development Research.

The Research projects is to link Climate Change Mitigation, Biodiversity Restoration and Sustainable Livelihoods in Ghana. This partnership will focus on research development and funding.

It will also provide the lead to invite other research organizations and institution as part of our stakeholders. Making Ghana a conducive place to live is key. It will also integrate awareness creation and sensitization programme forming as one of the component of the Environmental Education to enhance sustainable development.

RUPFA Ghana is [Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) established to ensure the reverse of Rural Urban Migration, Poverty Alleviation and Promote Self-Reliance through Community Development and Environmental Protection.

African Research Center is an institution that is into Research towards Environmental protection. Community development and Management of natural resources in Ghana.

However, both organization has a lot in common and its partnership agreement will emerge as a united and stronger organization that will benefit grassroots in society and Ghana as a country.

The MoU will therefore seek to roll over the following activities.

  1. Sustainable management of land with our traditional authorities through stakeholders meetings to address the dwindling state of lands for Ecosystem Conservation. .
  2. Capacity building for project beneficiaries (Farmers, Agro processing groups, Environmental Organizations or Institutions, NGOs, Community Youth Groups, Women Groups, Chiefs and Queen Mothers, Members of the Religious groups, Miners, Quarries, Schools, Artisans, Chainsaw Operators, Securities and Governments. .
  3. Conduct Baseline survey to inform decisions at all level or stages of the project within the affected areas to promote sustainability of the project. We will identify the threats on activities that is detrimental and needs an attention.
  4. Advocacy programmes will be launch from time to time to update all stakeholders and run promotion throughout the life cycle of the research project.
  5. It will also move along with Policy makers and team up with others to influence policy development and bring on board critical issues that will advise generally making changes and improving already existing policies.
  6. Sensitization and awareness creation, Joint community and school sensitizations on land use programmes using different useful tools.
  7. Provide monitoring and assessment visits as needed to ensure that resources and training delivered by African Research Center are aligned with the research for development tracking (African Research Center’s methodology and standards of delivery) as well as National Standards and Implementation Model for Environmental issues.
  8. Sustainable income generating activities that will contributing to climate change mitigation and restoring biodiversity ensuring vegetation covers are back to green and water bodies are safe to drink.
  9. Push for effective usage of land, a key resources so that when well managed we can get land for future Industrialization drive and development.
  10. Media partnership cannot by left since its will provide enough channel to propagate the message to the citizenry.

At the ceremony, the Executive Director of RUPFA, Richard Ashaley emphasized the need to give lots of attention to the Land management and Administration in this country.

He said since failure of its management can led to the destruction of our environment and livelihoods as against increase in population and unemployment.

According to Mr. Richard Ashaley, most families’ lives will be transformed since food security and agribusiness will be improved and on the whole cost of living will be improved, as well as easy access to economic empowerment.

In his response, Prof. Emmanuel Teitey, Country Director of African Research Center confirmed her organization was commitment to improving the ecosystem and livelihood situation in the different areas of operations for both organizations.

The ceremony which took place at the offices of African Research Center ended with members of both organizations taking pictures.
