The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed that six potential recruits died, and several others were injured during a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The incident occurred ahead of the 2025/2026 military recruitment exercise when a surge of applicants breached security protocols and rushed the gates around 6:20 a.m.
The injured have been rushed to the 37 Military Hospital, where medical teams are working tirelessly to stabilize them.
GAF in a statement noted, “The Ghana Armed Forces assures the general public that medical teams are working tirelessly to stabilise affected individuals. Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to notify the families of the deceased.”
GAF also extended its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
The military has promised further updates as authorities continue to manage the situation and investigate the incident.
