The National Concerned Small Scale Miners Association, Ghana, has formally appealed to the Ghana Goldbod for an extension of the deadline for submitting application documents for the Gold Buyer License.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Goldbod, the association requested that the deadline – originally set to close on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 – be extended by one additional month.
According to the association, many of its members have faced significant challenges compiling the required documentation within the stipulated timeframe. These include Tax Clearance Certificates, Business Operating Permits, Environmental Protection Permits, SSNIT Clearance Certificates, GRA Certificates, police reports, and other regulatory documents.

“While we recognize and fully support the initiative aimed at regulating gold purchases and curbing illegal mining, money laundering, and gold smuggling, the process of gathering all the necessary documentation has proven time-consuming and cumbersome for many of our members,” the letter, signed by Association President Michael Kwadwo Peprah, stated.
The association noted that although some members have initiated online applications, several remain incomplete due to documentation delays.
They believe an extension would allow for broader compliance and greater participation in the licensing process, ultimately supporting Ghana Goldbod’s aim of promoting a transparent and responsible gold trading ecosystem.

“We respectfully appeal to your good office to consider this request in the interest of fairness, inclusion, and our shared commitment to proper regulation of the small-scale mining sector,” the letter concluded.
