The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, in partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Production Limited, has initiated a strategic dialogue to attract stronger corporate backing for the Ghana Premier League and football development nationwide.
The engagement, held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel under the theme “Investing in Ghana’s Football Transformation”, brought together senior executives from corporate Ghana, club owners, football stakeholders, and the media. The Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House, Hon. Julius Debrah, graced the occasion and reaffirmed government’s unwavering support for efforts aimed at revitalising the domestic league and lifting the overall standard of Ghanaian football.
In his keynote address, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, highlighted the vital role of the private sector in turning football into a thriving industry. He assured corporate Ghana that investments in the sport would yield measurable returns, pointing to the global success of football sponsorships in boosting brand value, consumer loyalty, and market growth.

The Minister also urged clubs and owners to use resources responsibly, stressing the need to invest in fan engagement, marketing, and player welfare. “A beautiful game is only beautiful when clubs market their stars and provide the conditions for players to deliver their best,” he said.
Hon. Adams, however, revealed that government is exploring tax incentives for sponsors, reviewing the ban on alcohol sponsorship in sports, and finalising the Sports Fund Bill to secure sustainable financing for both grassroots and elite-level development. Corporate entities, he noted, will also be called upon to contribute to the Fund to strengthen the wider sports ecosystem.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to all corporate leaders and stakeholders who participated, reaffirming its commitment to forging strong partnerships that will restore the Ghana Premier League’s appeal and elevate Ghanaian football to international standards.
