SS Peter & Paul JHS wins Clement Apaak’s 2024 Science and Maths Quiz Competition

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South constituency, Dr. Clement Apaak has successfully organized the first ever District science and mathematics quiz competition for all Junior High Schools (JHS) in his constituency.

In statement signed by the National Democratic Congress Builsa South Communication Officer, Adams Immiron Kambara disclosed that the completion was in collaboration with the District Education Directorate.

The competition, which was held from February 9th to February 16th, 2024, was aimed at fostering STEM education in the Builsa South District. It was a one-week event with significant student participation and impressive attendance.

All the 25 Junior High Schools schools in Builsa South participated in the quiz. Fumbisi SS. Peter and Paul JHS emerged as the victors with an impressive score of 43 points.

Fumbisi Preparatory JHS came in second place with 25.5 points, while Jiningsa JHS and Gbedema JHS secured third and fourth placese with 16 and 8 points, respectively.

The competition was a great success, showcasing the talent and dedication of the participating schools.

SS. Peter and Paul JHS, the winners of the competition, received a cash prize of GHS 3000 and certificates of participation.

Fumbisi Preparatory JHS secured the second position and was awarded a cash prize of GHS 2000 along with certificates.

The third and fourth positions were secured by Jiningsa JHS and Gbedema JHS, who were given cash prizes of GHS 1000 each along with certificates of participation.

The NDC constituency chairman, Mr. Akinkang Caesar presented the prizes to the schools and participants on behalf of the Member of Parliament.

According to the Chairman, the MP, who is also the Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament, believes in the significance of education in shaping the future.

He further stated that the lawmaker never misses an opportunity to emphasize the need for parents, schools and students to take education seriously.

He further revealed that the MP has plans to sustain the quiz competition in the district, indicating that this was merely the beginning.

The Builsa South NDC Chairman on behalf of Dr. Apaak expressed admiration for the intelligence and competitive spirit of the young participants.

He asserted that among them are potential lawyers, doctors, engineers, teachers, and other professionals, thus indicating a bright future.

On behalf of Dr. Apaak, he thanked the teachers responsible for training the students who participated in the competition, urging them to continue in their quest for the betterment of their students and the district in its entirety.

At the event, Mr. Abudem Joseph, the Builsa South Deputy Director of Education, who represented the Education Directorate, commended Hon. Dr. Clement Apaak and his organizing team for their outstanding efforts in establishing this valuable initiative.

He encouraged the schools to maintain the competition’s momentum and to prepare thoroughly to challenge SS. Peter and Paul JHS for the quiz trophy and first place prize money next year.
