Governance analyst Theodore Dzeble has called for a total revamping of the structures at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
His call comes at a time when the trust is under fire following its decision to procure a software system at a staggering amount of $66million.
The Operation Business Suit (OBS) system purchased two years ago aimed at enhancing the pension scheme’s service delivery to its customers in all its 50 branches across the country.
However, concerns have been raised about the cost of the project considering the meager pensions paid the trust’s contributors.
“Everybody who is contributing to SSNIT right now should really be [nervous]. It is very worrying the way they are accounting for contributions,” said Mr. Dzeble Thursday on Morning Starr with Francis Abban.
He said there is so much rot in the administration of the pension scheme.
“Is it that they do not have competent staff to manage the place or what? It is just persisting. Today, there is a new variation inefficiency, tomorrow, there is a new version of incompetence and this continuous. It looks like there is no end to it and I wonder if it is not time for a complete overhaul of the way SSNIT operates,?” he quizzed.
