A twenty-nine year old trained teacher has allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Bibiani D-Line in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

Yaw Robert Agbeshie alias Woyome was found hanging in his bedroom Friday morning.

He did not leave any note neither did he show any suicidal thoughts to persons close to him.

He is reported to have played football with friends and went to church previous day.

“He was a teacher. He came to do his service here that is where I knew him. I heard this morning that he has committed suicide.I couldn’t believe it. We even played football with him yesterday then he rushed to bath and went to church” some friends of the deceased sadly recounted.

Robert Yaw Agbeshie was a dedicated Christian punctual in church activities.

Prophet Bennett Ohene Gyan, founder and leader of King Jesus Alive Ministry International where he worshipped was utterly shocked.

“He didn’t joke with his church fellowship with us, but because of school and work outside the town he has not been very punctual as he used to be about a year now. However when he returned recently, he told me he wanted to be usher in the church from next Sunday” Prophet Benett said .

The body of the deceased has been taken by police to Bibiani Government hospital morgue.

This is the fifth suicide case reported in the media in January this year in the country .

Two of the suicide cases have been recorded in the Eastern Region whilst a mother hanged the child and herself at Ahanta West in Western Region region few days ago.

The current economic crises in Ghana could result in an increase in suicide cases in the country.

Suicide is a serious public health problem; however, suicides are preventable with timely, evidence-based and often low-cost interventions.

For national responses to be effective, a comprehensive multisectoral suicide prevention strategy is needed, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)

Every year 703 000 people take their own life and there are many more people who attempt suicide.

Suicide was the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29 year-olds globally in 2019.
