Ten people have died following a fatal road traffic accident involving a VIP bus and a diesel trailer at Mile 44 on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The incident was confirmed by the Ghana National Fire Service in a Facebook post, stating that the crash occurred on Monday, April 13, 2026, at about 0424hrs.
According to the Service, the Suhum Municipal Fire Station received a distress call and immediately deployed a seven-member crew to the scene, where they arrived within minutes to carry out rescue operations.

Preliminary findings indicate the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking by the bus.
The GNFS reported, “There were 33 passengers on board, with 10 casualties (9 males and 1 female), though no one was trapped.”

Both vehicles sustained partial damage, but firefighters were able to secure the scene and complete rescue operations before returning to base.
