Renowned legal practitioner and academic, Tsatsu Tsikata, has defended the right to criticize court decisions, rejecting claims that the NDC seeks to undermine the judiciary whenever they lose cases.
Speaking on GH Today, on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Mr.Tsikata countered arguments that critical comments about court rulings equate to undermining the judiciary.
Tsikata’s comments come in the wake of accusations that the NDC has a history of undermining the judiciary whenever they face unfavorable court rulings.
“It is naive for anybody to suspect that when you criticize the decision of the court, it amounts to undermining the court,” Tsikata asserted.
These accusations have gained traction in recent months, particularly after the Supreme Court’s decision on a case involving the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
The NDC has been vocal in expressing their disagreement with the Court’s decision, leading to accusations of disrespect for the judiciary.
The renowned legal practitioner’s strong defense of the right to criticize court decisions aims to dispel this notion, arguing that critical analysis should not be misconstrued as undermining the judicial process.
