The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has urged the government to urgently clarify the status of the recruitment and placement of trained teachers from the 2022 backlog and the 2023 batch.
In a statement dated Monday, September 8, TTAG expressed concern that many of its members remain in limbo, while others already posted to classrooms have not received salaries for more than ten months.
The association warned that the delays are creating hardship for affected teachers and weakening confidence in the education system.
TTAG outlined three key demands:
- A clear update on the recruitment and posting process for both the 2022 and 2023 batches.
- Immediate payment of accumulated salary arrears owed to newly recruited teachers.
- Transparent timelines to assure teachers and restore calm.
A portion of the statement noted, “The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) expresses deep concern over the uncertainty surrounding the recruitment and placement of both the 2022 backlog of Trained Teachers and the 2023 Year Batch, together with the prolonged delay in the payment of more than ten months of salaries to newly recruited Teachers already serving in classrooms.”
While acknowledging previous efforts by government to resolve trainee concerns, TTAG called on the Ministries of Education and Finance to act swiftly.
The association emphasized its willingness to continue dialogue but cautioned that if the issues remain unaddressed, it will consider “other legitimate options” to defend the welfare and dignity of its members.
