Chef Ebenezer Smith, also known as Chef Smith, has apologized to the people of Ghana after it was revealed that his Guinness World Record (GWR) certificate is counterfeit.
In the FULL interview yet to be aired on GHOne TV Chef Smith indicated the Ghanaians and the world should forgive.
“I render a very big apology on this big platform and I apologize to the world that I am so sorry and I don’t deserve to live. I was only chasing after a livelihood and now this embarrassment has come upon me,” Mr. Smith pleaded.
On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith convened a press briefing at La Palm Beach Hotel to declare his purported achievement of setting the longest individual cooking marathon record.
Despite assertions from Chef Smith’s manager, Benny, that they received a confirmation email from GWR, the Guinness World Records (GWR) stated that they have no record of any application or attempt from the Ghanaian chef.
In the midst of public condemnation, Chef Smith faced backlash after it was revealed that the certificate may not be genuine.
“No, it is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate”, the email from Madalyn Biefield, Public Relations Manager of Guinness World Records disclosed.
