Two individuals have been arrested by the Volta North Regional Police for transporting substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The suspects, Etornam Vumadzi, a driver, and Emmanuel Komlagah, were apprehended on Friday, January 30, 2026, while moving the consignment from Godenu toward Togo.

According to the police in a statement, the suspects attempted to bribe officers to secure their release, offering GHC32,000 upfront, while a third party, identified only as Joseph, tried to sweeten the deal with GHC150,000. All offers were firmly rejected.
A search of the vehicle, a Toyota minibus with registration GT-6592-19, uncovered eighteen sacks containing a total of 648 yellow oval parcels suspected to be narcotics.

The suspects remain in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be charged in court.
