The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for allegedly extorting money while posing as members of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce.
The suspects, Foster Delord, 40, and Prince Worvi, 38—both of whom claim to be former military officers—were apprehended after the Police received a complaint that the pair had been visiting various gold dealers, falsely identifying themselves as officials of the Gold Board Taskforce.
Items retrieved from the suspects during the arrest included one pair of handcuffs, a pepper spray canister, an electric shock device, a set of uniform, and a cash amount of GH₵500.
The two have since been arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and remanded into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, the Police are urging the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals who claim to represent government institutions.
The public is further advised to always request proper identification to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
