The Atebubu-Amantin District of the Brong Ahafo region is experiencing water crisis as traditional leaders there call for help.
Residents have to trek long distances in search of water. The Chief of Akokoa, Nana Owusu Sah-Kofi II, said that the situation has forced government workers out of the area and scared others from coming in to work.
Nana Owusu Sah-Kofi II said this during his community’s annual Kwabena Yam Festival.
“Water is a major problem in the Atebubu-Amantin district, with a population of 4000 we only have one bore hole which serves the whole population. We need government help to solve the issue.
“The situation becomes worst in February and March, a situation that forces government workers to buy sachet water to bath which is not the best. If the situation continues government workers who are posted to the area won’t come,” the chief lamented.
