The ministry of Energy and Green Transition has assured the public that Electricity supply is being restored across the country after a power system disturbance in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), the National Interconnected Transmission System suffered the disturbance at about 3:11 a.m. on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, triggering the simultaneous tripping of a number of generating plants and interrupting supply to customers. In a statement, the company said its engineers and system operators have activated established restoration procedures to return power to affected customers.
Spokesperson and Head of Communications at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition Richmond Rockson Esq., says the recovery is now well under way.
“We have made progress with power restoration after the System Disturbance, with supply already back in some affected areas. We will restore power to every affected customer soon.” he said.
GRIDCo, has also opened a comprehensive technical investigation to determine the precise cause of the event.
The ministry of Energy and Green Transition says it understands the inconvenience this outage has caused and sincerely appreciates customers’ patience, understanding, and cooperation during this time. It maintains that restoring power to every affected customer remains its highest priority.
