The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has warned against any attempts to rig the upcoming 2024 elections in his constituency.
In a statement, Dr. Apaak claimed that there have been efforts to steal the people’s votes through the use of local thugs, imported mercenaries, or even fake security personnel.
Dr. Apaak, who is seeking re-election, vowed that his team is prepared to resist any such attempts and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
He called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to act professionally and impartially, and for security personnel to uphold their duty to protect the rights of voters.
“We know their plans,” Dr. Apaak said, “We know and have the details of the meetings held in Navrongo, Sandema, amongst others. Any attempt to steal the will of the people using local ragamuffins or imported thugs or fake security personnel or a combination, therefore, will be met with the most robust resistance.”
He further urged security forces tasked with overseeing the election to conduct themselves professionally and without bias, warning that any unprofessional conduct would be vigorously challenged.
“We are for peace. However, we will not be victims of peace,” Dr. Apaak added, emphasising that the true will of the people must prevail in Builsa South.
