President-Elect John Dramani Mahama is gearing up to hit the ground running, stating that his team is ready to start work immediately after the inauguration on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Mahama made this disclosure during a tour of the presidential palace with outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo, ahead of his inauguration.
He expressed his gratitude to outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo and the transition team for ensuring a smooth transition process.
Mahama’s team has been busy gathering information during the transition period, which has equipped them with the knowledge needed to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of government programs.
The President-Elect was accompanied by Vice President-Elect Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang during a tour of the presidential palace, where they familiarized themselves with the facilities and operations of their future offices.
The Jubilee House tour is a significant step in the transfer of power, underscoring Ghana’s commitment to democratic principles and peaceful governance.
He said, “I want to thank you and your side of the transition team for what has been a cordial and smooth transition. We do think that we are quite ready with the information we have to start work immediately when we finish the inauguration tomorrow. It’s conventional to meet on the last day as it was a takeover. The last time I was a President, I didn’t live here and so you’re the first occupant of this premises although I’m familiar with the geography of it.”
