President John Dramani Mahama has assured the chiefs and people of the Western Region that his government will prioritize the region’s development and ensure it takes its rightful place in Ghana’s progress.
Despite its immense contribution to the nation’s economic growth and development, the region remains under severe infrastructure challenges.
“The Western Region has long been the bedrock of Ghana’s economy. From gold to cocoa, from oil to timber, this region has contributed immensely to our national wealth. And yet for far too long, it has not received its fair share of development,” President Mahama acknowledged.
Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” following his 2024 election victory, President Mahama reiterated his dedication to ensuring that the Western Region receives its fair share of infrastructure, job creation, and social development initiatives to improve the lives of its residents under his tenure.
“Nananom, this must change. I’m here today to assure you that under my leadership as president of The Republic Of Ghana, the Western Region will take its rightful place as a priority in Ghana’s development agenda.
“The great wealth of this region must translate into better roads, into quality health care, into improved opportunity, job opportunities, and to improve education, and a better standard of living for the people of this region,” the president noted.
However, President Mahama expressed his appreciation to the people of the Western Region for the trust they placed in the NDC during the December 7, 2024 general elections.
The NDC now holds 15 out of 17 seats in the region, marking a notable increase from the previous election, in which the party secured only 8 seats.
