The Electoral Commission (EC) has been sued by the International Standards Journalists Association (ISJA) for demanding accreditation fee from journalists who wish to cover the December 7 polls.
A statement issued by the Director of Communication of the EC, Eric Dzapkasu two weeks ago said: “Accreditation tags will be given to only those who have formally applied for them and for a fee to be determined by the Commission.”
The statement explained that the electoral management body’s demands of the GHS10 accreditation fees was due to logistical constraints.
That notwithstanding, the ISJA felt it had to resort to the court to get the commission to rescind its decision.
