Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has announced that government has earmarked GHc94.5 million for its One-Village-One-Dam project.
President Akufo-Addo during electioneering last year promised to establish a dam in every village in the three Northern part of the country to boost agriculture via a well-planned irrigation policy.
Addressing traditional rulers in Bolgatanga in the Upper East region on Sunday, August 28, 2016, he said a robust irrigation policy “one-village-one dam” will make Ghana crop all year round and eventually become a net exporter of most foodstuff.
Presenting the government’s maiden budget statement Mr. Ofori-Atta disclosed that the Akufo-Addo administration has earmarked GHc94.5 million to begin the one-village-one-dam policy in the three Northern regions to ensure all year round farming and food security.
Also, the government is allocating GHc456.3 million for its one-district-one-factory policy, aimed at providing 216 medium to large scale factories in each districts creating over 350,000 direct and indirect jobs.
