President Akufo-Addo has appointed the corporate, Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Paul Asare Ansah as acting Director-General of the GPHA.
He takes over from Richard Anamoo, who was relieved from the post on January 23, 2017.
A statement announcing the appointment noted: “Pursuant to section 8(2) of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Act 1986 (P.N.D.C.L 160), I hereby appoint you to act as the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your appointment”.
Asare Ansah was appointed Marketing and Customer Service Manager of Takoradi Port in 2001 at a time the port was considered weak. Within four years, $7million was invested into warehousing facilities; 13,000 jobs were created and $15.8 Million accrued in revenue to the Port.
In 2005, he was made the Ghana Port Authority’s representative to the landlocked countries of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. In 2012, he became the Marketing and Public Relations Manager of Tema Port. He holds an MBA and a Post Graduate Degree in Communication Studies
